Winter Wonderland

Hi everyone!  This will be my last post as a member of the Basically Bare Design Team.  It’s been a great three years, but I’ve decided to resign.  For my final post as a designer here, I have created a wintery tag for you.  It’s nice and cold outside and I thought my tag should reflect the weather (well, it doesn’t snow where I live, but one can dream).

I used a watercolor tag from Basically Bare’s Scalloped Tag set,

2015-12-13 15.23.06

  1. Spray the tag with Art Anthology Siesta Key then set it aside to dry.
  2. Tear scraps of copy paper into pieces that resemble mounds of snow.
  3. Emboss with Stampendous Chunky White embossing powder.  Set aside.
  4. Die cut three trees from the and spray or paint them with dark green.  Add embossing powder to tips of trees and emboss with more Chunky White powder to simulate slow.
  5. Lay out the embossed pieces of paper and your trees so they look to be sticking up out of the snow,  Carefully glue everything down.
  6. Stamps Winter Wonderland at the top of the tag in black Versafine ink.

A Joyful (and easy) Banner

Hello again!

Jessica here and I have a fun project to share with you today. I don’t know about you, but I don’t usually get to do a lot of crafting during the holidays. It’s all hosting parties, taking finals, celebrating my birthday and scrambling to get a million things done before Christmas. When I do have a chance to craft, I like to make decor for my house. This year I decided to make a banner for my front porch and was inspired by the Oh So Mini Album in the rounded shape. I had multiple pages made from chipboard in my stash and I thought they’d be perfect to use to make this banner rather than using them as album pages. Now, those Oh So Mini sets come in a few shapes and it would be so fun to mix and match them to make a fun banner for any occasion. I decided to make this one because I had an empty frame on my front porch that was just calling out for something festive and sparkly.

DSC_0840 DSC_0845 DSC_0848 DSC_0847 DSC_0849 DSC_0843 DSC_0850

I kept things affordable by using diecuts and flowers from my stash. Those pinwheels add a lot of dimension at a cost of almost nothing. I also added in some acrylic Fanciful Frames behind the letters. The acrylic adds some sparkle on its own, but I added some snowy white and silver glass glitters to the top of them after running them through my adhesive machine. The letters were actually just some that I typed up in my word processing program, printed out on cardstock, and cut out before attaching them with some foam adhesive. I think that stringing it all on that tinsel trim just makes it. I love the way it all came together.

Well, I hope that you all have had some time to be creative this season. I know it helps put me in a good mood! You can check out all of the Basically Bare products in the online store and you can see projects and happenings on the Basically Bare Facebook page.

Have a very happy holiday season!

Whimsical Christmas Tree

Good morning everyone!  I’ve got a new art journal page for you today, created using Basically Bare’s 5×7 Artful Journal.  The watercolor pages are nice and thick and colors do not bleed through to the other side.  I actually saturated this page with color.

2015-12-13 14.47.27

  1. Stamp the stars using embossing liquid and then emboss with silver powder.
  2. Spray Ink Spot (by Art Anthology) or another dark ink onto your page, blotting and drying until you’ve reached the depth of color you are going for.
  3. Stamp your tree with Versafine ink onto a piece of paper, emboss with clear embossing powder, and cut out, leaving a wide margin.  I painted mine with Art Anthology Ferrari and Parakeet Sorbet.  I embossed the star with silver embossing powder.
  4. Add a trunk cut from a piece of paper and color with a dark brown paint.
  5. Die cut holly and snowflakes from cardstock.  I painted the holly leaves and then embossed with clear powder.  The snowflakes were embossed with silver powder.
  6. Stamp Merry Christmas in black ink and then emboss with green embossing powder.  Adhere everything to the page.
  7. I outlined Merry Christmas with a white pen.  I had also outlined the tree with a red paint pen but went back over it with a white pen.  Next I outlined the holly leaves and snowflakes with a black Micron pen.
  8. Finally, outline the page with a red paint pen.

You are done!

Christmas Village

Hi!  Suzz here.

How about a Christmas Village you can use for Place Settings, Gift Card Holders or just adorable Candy Treats?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I started with two sets of the  Basically Bare – Happy Little Houses:

and the Mixed Media Card Set:

which I assemble together using the Paperie Binderie:

which looked like this:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

All of these items are available in the Basically Bare Retail Shop.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Vintage Deer, Bottle Trees, Jolee Stickers, October Afternoon, Authentique

I used the die cuts as templates to cut out different pattern papers to decorate the houses.  I attached the papers to the house and sponged with a touch of white paint.  I cut sides from the mixed media cards as well as my bases to my houses.  I used hot glue to attach the houses to the base.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

October Afternoon, Authentique, Jolees Stickers, Idea-ology Seasonal Chit Chat, Tim Holtz trim

I added hot glue mixed with crystal glitter to the base.  I added embossing paste for snow on the roof and door frames.  I sprinkled that with glitter as well to give it a shimmer.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Authentique, October Afternoon – Make it Merry, Washi Tape

I had previously misted tissue paper with snowflakes and used that for stuffing in the center of the gift box.

Now I have four gift card holders and candy treat containers for last-minute gifts.  These easily could be hung on the tree as well with a few hole punches in the roof and some glittery twine.

Happy Holidays!

Mixed Media Junk Journal

Hi crafty friends! I wanted to make something that wasn’t Xmas themed even though it is coming up. I like to be different ! Anyhow, I have been wanting to do a Junk Journal using the Timeless Tab Album from Basically Bare Online Shop

image

I first took it apart and papered some of the pages from the album, I also used the inserts from the Prima Mixed Media 7×9 Album. Which includes paper tags, plain canvas sheets, watercolor papers, resist canvas sheets, plastic sleeves, double sided card stock, photo insert sheets. I also added some double sided designer folders from a Heidi Swap pkg I had in my stash. I left it blank because this will be going to a friend for Xmas. I will post a video link once I upload it , it will contain the rest of the pages that aren’t pictured here. I didn’t want this blog to be too long. The papers that I used were some of my favorite from The Paper Studio, Haberdashery & Kellerkurtz&Company .

image

In the above photo collage are some of the pages from my album. I also used one of the adorable frames from Basically Bare called Fanciful Frames  , I used one of the chipboard ones that I embossed in Black embossing powder. I loved how it looked on the front cover page. I added a tiny doily with a ivory flat back pearl to accent the frame. I hot glued it on, after I had already glued some wide vintage lace and a beautiful vintage appliqué . I will be posting a link to my video that shows a more extensive look at this journal . I hope you like it and will order your self this or other selections of albums from the Basically Bare Online Store

On Angel Wings and Hearts

Hi!  Suzz here.

Christmas preparations are well  under way in our house.  I am busy getting prepared with decorations, presents and baking.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Basically Bare – Hearts Dies, Tim Holtz Layering Stencil – Doily, Wendy Vecchi – Gold Embossing Paste, Twine, Button, Heidi Swapp – Color Shine – Pink

I was looking at the charming canvas hearts from the Hearts Die Cuts and thought how sweet it would be to create ornaments using two of them sewn together.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Basically Bare – Heart Dies

I started with the Basically Bare – Die Cut Hearts and stenciled on gold embossing paste with a doily pattern.  I let that dry and then sprayed the canvas with a mist.  After it was done the mist was darker than I wanted so I added a hint of white acrylic paint over the surface to lighten the background color.  I let that dry and then hand stitched the edges to add an additional rustic feel.

You will need a heavier needle to stitch the canvas.  If I had a machine and knew how to use it I would have used it to stitch the edges!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Basically Bare – Dress Form Die Cuts, Memory Box – Dream Stamp, Ranger Archival Ink – Black, Idea-Ology – Gold Shimmery Paper, Lace, Ranger Distress Stain Spray – Tarnished Brass, Paper Flowers, Stampendous Gold Glitter

For my second ornament I used the Basically Bare – Dress Form Die Cut and the Basically Bare – Angel Wings.

I stained the lace with a gold mist.  I painted the dress form and stamped over the painted form with a text stamp.  I then created a Christmas outfit with a touch of holly.  I punched a hole in the top and tied on a piece of twine.

I am happy that I have three ornaments which can be attached to gifts and the recipient can hang them on their tree after they open their gifts.

All the product is available for retail purchase in the Basically Bare Online Store.

“12 Days of Christmas”

Hi crafty friends!! I am FINALLY here to bring you my 3rd project that was for the month of November. Unfortunetly I have been under the weather and also hospitalized for a little so I fell behind. I actually was almost done with my project when I got sick . So luckily I didn’t have a whole lot to catch up on. Anyhow, here is the 1st half of the project that I have made. I am using the theme song “12 Days of Christmas” . I have some rubber stamps that have each of the numbers (ex: 5 Golden Rings…6 French Hens….etc.. So I was anxious to use them for the first time on this project.

image

I began with the plain sheet of the 12X12 Corrugated Cardboard that Basically Bare carries. I decided to paper it with DCWV “The Christmas Combo Stack”, I love these papers for many reasons, one is that they are sturdy, two the colors are beautiful and three they can be used just as a layout just like I decided to do. I got an idea that I would make it like a layout / peek-a-boo album. If that makes any sense to you. In my mind it does. So I papered both sides and then I added the pages off of one of the Ringed Binders , I used the “Bracket Album”. If I post every  single detail that I did to this, I’ll have too long of a blog post lol but I did some spraying with Lindy’s Sprays, I used some of the thicker gold embossing powder because I didn’t have any thinner one. I also incorporated a theme from an online game I play, it’s kind of looking for hidden objects, so since the embossing powder was kinda of thick on the stamped images, you can kinda tell where the images are of the 1-6 “12 Days of Christmas ” are at. The numbers are easy to make out just the image it’s self is tricky. But if you know the song, then it shouldn’t be too hard. Anyhow here are the rest of the process pictures. I will be making another page for the rest of the 7-12 in my next project. These corrugated pkgs. come with (2) pages. I hope you get what I tried doing. Isn’t that strange when you know in your mind what your trying to create but sometimes others don’t?! Lol, just be open minded 😉 and you yourself can create something outside the box using the products from this great online store Basically Bare!!

Twinkle Twinkle

Happy Thursday!  Suzz here.

I had fun over our Thanksgiving break playing with the Mixed Media Card set.   I created a series of ATCs.  The different media offered in the card set gave me different platforms to try ideas.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Basically Bare Mixed Media Card Set, Stampendous Silver Luxe Mix, Idea-Ology Chit Chat Seasonal, Inkadinkado, Black Gesso, Deco-Art Metallic Paint

This ATC is chipboard which gave me extra durability to layer on paint, embossing paste, more paint and some sequins, snowflakes and beads.  After I had glued on a mix of embellishments I coated them in black gesso.  I then added the mix of glitter and silver stars over the background.  I stamped the buck and gave him glittery antlers.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Basically Bare – Mixed Media Card Set, Penny Black, Memory Box Stencil, Sequins, Memory Box – O Holy Night, Silver Embossing Paste, Blue Stain Spray, USPS Stamp

The base for this ATC is  cardstock  from the Mixed Media Card Set.  I stenciled on the stars with silver embossing paste.  I flicked on the mix of navy and teal spots.  I then took the larger sticker that comes with a set of stamps and cut it out to place it as my focal image.  The sentiment was stamped and cut to layer on.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Basically Bare – Mixed Media Card Set, Tim Holtz Layering Stencil, Stampendous Silver Luxe Mix, Penny Black – Robin’s Kingdom, Paper Artsy – Paint, Black Gesso, Gems

For my last ATC, I used another chipboard ATC from the Mixed Media Cards set.  I wanted to layer on paint and embossing past and the chipboard keeps is sturdy.   I embossed the holiday words using silver embossing paste.  I layered on splashes of paint and glittery goodness. I then stamped the sweet bunnies and cut them out to pop them on the ATC.

These three ATC’s can be placed on a card, use them as tags on gifts or trade them with my artsy friends for one of their ATCs.

Don’t forget that you can purchase all the fabulous Basically Bare products in the retail store here.

Fall Artful Binder Page

Good morning everyone!  Today I created a page using the 6×6 Artful Binder 6×6 Watercolor Expansion Pack.  I use my 6×6 Artful Binder as an art journal; it’s so easy to remove the pages to work on.

2015-11-15 12.19.04

First, I misted my watercolor paper with water then sprayed Barbie, Salmon, Granny Smith, and Siesta Key Colorations on to get my background started.  I then stenciled some squares using one of the Off the Grid Layered Stencils and then stenciled some Chevrons using Bronze Metal Effects through the Tick Tock stencil.

I die cut the Tree of Life from Tattered Lace, sprayed it with Salted Caramel, French Toast, and Juicy Colorations and glued it down.  The leaf was something I had laying around on my desk.  I then stamped FALL using the Almano stamp set from Technique Junkies,

2015-11-15 12.19.21         2015-11-15 12.19.16

A couple of closeups of my page.

2015-11-15 12.20.25

It’s now been placed in my 6×6 Artful Binder.

Hope you enjoy this today and can get an idea how versatile our Artful Binders and the Expansion Packs can be.

Happy Thanksgiving

Amanda here

Today on this Grateful Holiday I get to share a banner made from our wonderful embellishment line.

you will need:

Large Pennant Embellishments, paper, ribbon, adhesive, and some fun brads, random letters

these need not match ..I just happened to have this many that did “P I used a 1-1/2″ & 1-1/4” circle punch with glue dots to raise letters.

Cover your embellishment pieces with your patterned paper then double layer with the canvas and felt embellishment pieces. This really give this sweet, little banner dimensional pop!
