Elegant yet Vintage Tag & Easel Set

Hi my crafty friends! Today I want to share with you this tag and easel combo set I created! I of course used one of my favorite paper collections, some beautiful laces, a little bit of Bling, & of course some wonderful products from Basically Bare!!  I will get started showing most of my process! Enjoy!!

  • I first began by altering one of the adorable Prima Julie Nutting Tags, its size is 3.5 x 8.5 but I trimmed it just a tad. I then chose my papers which are two different paper collections but are yet similar. They are both from the Paper Studio, “Haberdashery ” & “Kellerkurtz&Company “, like I said they have similar papers the only difference is the Haberdashery is a Kraft paper and the Kellerkurtz&Company is a very thin design paper. I chose which one I wanted to adhere on my tag, I used my Scotch ATG to adhere both front and back of the tag. I then used some Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Ink ” Black Soot” to distress all of the edges of my tag. I then chose the smallest the dress forms  from Basically Bare which they do come in all sizes and different materials. Dress Forms  image
  • With this I applied some mod podge and adhered some vintage book papers that I had. I applied the same distress inks around the dress form then I had a small corset clipboard die cut that a friend of mine had gifted me so I embossed it using the Lindy’s embossing powder in ” Midnight Pewter”. As I let that cool off I chose some beautiful laces from my stash. A black embroidered ruffle trim. & a Pearl light caramel colored Venice lace that has a beautiful design on it. I used Beacon Fabri-tac to adhere the laces. I applied the embossed corset then added a little bit of BLING to the center belt line of the corset then a small strand of pearls with lace as a necklace. I stamped on some images/ sentiments using a Spanish themed stamp set that I have called “Dilo En Espanol- Hecho Con Amor” ( Say It In Spanish- Made with Love) By: www. Retro I then applied some Ranger Stickles in Gold around the stamped images. Last I tied some Black/ Gold seam binding on top of my tag. *Note: I also made a box from the Haberdashery Kraft paper using my scoreboard. I will be doing a tutorial on it. Will post here when I do. **image

  • After making this I decided to make a little something extra so I decided on the  Basically Bare Pre Assembled Album (Easel) image
  • I began by taking it apart from the cinch binder it comes with. I prefer doing this to adhere my papers to give it a neater, clean look I guess you can say. I don’t own a Cinch Binder or Zutter so I just holes of the paper with my Crop-A-Dile. it works great! Ok back to my project! I then traced all of the chipboard sheets that’s come in different sizes on to different design papers from The Paper Studio “Kellerkurtz&Company ” as I had mentioned before I decided to use the same papers on this as well. I used the Prima Distresser  and the Ranger Distresser on all the edges and then once adhered to the chipboard I used The Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Inks in ” Vintage Photo” & ” Black Soot” in the edges. image
  • After all the papers where adhered using my ATG, I began making some pockets with some wide laces so that I could use some small tags that I had cut out from the same paper line. I distressed the edges on them too using ” “Vintage Photo” . Once the laces dried from using Fabri-tac, I began to embellish using a variety of small cabachons, a few more of those embossed chipboard die cuts my friend Amy Love had gifted me for my bday this past May. I also used a beautiful pink sequined appliqué on the last page. Along with other small embellishments. I did leave some of the pages blank with no pocket to be used as a photo mat. I just added a small embellishment on those. I did however use a couple of different die cuts from Basically Bare!! I used Wings & Hearts
  • image image
  • I Used the small chipboard heart, I embossed it using Lindy’s Embossing Powder ” Hibiscus Rose Orange”  & the smallest of the chipboard wings in ” Midnight Pewter ” They look GREAT!!
  • I apologize that this post was so long but I would love it if you got some inspiration and / or ideas out of it!! Happy Halloween

Hi There!  Suzz here bringing a little Halloween fun.

I am busy preparing Halloween cards and tags for Halloween.  I wanted a tag to attach to a gift being sent off to college.  The Scalloped Tag Set has so many choices I had to try to decide which medium I wanted to use.

After I decided that I wanted to use the corrugated cardboard decorating the tag was easy.

I started with a base of white gesso over the surface.  After I painted it and let it dry I decided to distress the tag and tore off portions of the top layer of the cardboard to give it a vintage look.   The next step was to stamp the Halloween ads over the painted surface.

Then a stamped owl with a few pieces of vintage ephemera and a few finishing touches and now I have a tag to attach to a goodie bag.

Don’t forget you can purchase any of the wonderful Basically Bare products including the tags at the Basically Bare Shop!

Wicked Journal Page

Good morning everyone!  I was in the Halloween mood and decided to create an Art Journal page using the Basically Bare 6×9 Art Journal.

2015-10-18 10.25.05

The background was created using Art Anthology Juice and Raider Colorations and the Art Anthology Meridian stencil.  I then stamped several Viva Las VegaStamps stamps in the background.

I then die cut the ghosts using the Sizzix Bigz die, inked them with Walnut Ink, and placed them where it looked like they were coming out of the tree.  I then cut several bats with the Movers & Shapers Tiny Bat die and the Bigz Hocus Pocus die (hat also).  The “wicked” is cut using the Thinlits Halloween words script.

” Romantic Shabby Lace Book Binder”

  • Hello everyone! Today I am bringing you a project that I am really hoping that you can get some kind of inspiration from.  I was very excited when I received  this in my design team package because I immediately noticed how sturdy this album was and I really wanted it to be something other than your typical photo album , scrapbook album, etc. I have seen different types of Lace Books, Doily Books, Fabric Books, but I wanted something to store the laces that I will purposely skip by when looking thru my drawer of laces only because they are the one’s that are soooo stunning (yes I know all laces are) but these are the one’s you don’t want to use in your projects only because I guess you feel maybe you will never come across them again, or idk what kind of silly misconception we have for doing this , that word everyone knows and isn’t ashamed to even say it lol (HOARDING)! image
  • I decided that this Artful Album would be the perfect size and I really like how sturdy it is. Here is the beginning of its transformation.  This is the 8.5 X 11 binder (before) image
  • I began by applying a coat of  white acrylic gesso to the edges that I would be painting.  image
  • Then I painted the edges using Craft Smart Light Pink Acrylic Paint. I only painted the edges because I would be applying some design paper to the album. image
  • I then picked out some beautiful papers from DCWV ” The Primrose” stack & from Craft&You “Vintage Time” I adhered one beautiful pattern on the outer panels of the album. Then the beautiful printed paper in the interior panels,
  •  imageimage
  • I then chose this stunning white fabric to cover the whole album
  • image
  • I then began working on the inside. There are 3 tabbed chipboard inserts that come with the album it’s self. I had also received the Add-on Expansion pack, that you can get separately where I was able to get another piece of the same tabbed chipboard. Add-on Expansion pack. With these I made a template of a spool shaped inserts to use to wrap my favorite Venice laces/trims. Here is how I made the templates then adhered pattern paper to them as well followed by distress inks around the edges ( Vintage Photo & Victorian Velvet) image
  • I also had some other templates that were smaller to hold my smaller laces , so I just made the holes on them to align with the binder. You can’t see it very well on the photo but I used the acrylic piece that came in the expansion pack at the beginning of the laces. I wanted to just keep them separate from the front inner part of the album where I added a small colorful clothes pin to hold some journaling papers, just for added decor as well in the middle part of the inner binding I used this stunning ruffle trim and added some small rose cabochons.
  •  imageimage

Finally on the outside of the album, I definitely wanted to use one of the ” Basically Embellies” dress forms. They come 3 to a pack , sm, med, lg.  Dress form die cuts. So I traced the dress form on the same floral paper that I used in the inside of the album. Adhered it with mod podge and added some beautiful white ruffled lace and pink lace with embroidered roses on it and added an adorable bow on front for a more dainty look.  I also used a different pink embroidered trim on the edge of the album along with some pearl flat back trim. On the outer binding I sprayed some rosette trim that was white with some Lindy’s sprays ( Plumeria Pink) and added some ivory lg. Flat back pearls.  As an added little something, I added this lg. Handmade stick pin. imageIimage

You can find all of the products that I used and more  at . I truly hope that you like my project and that the many uses of these albums is endless. I know this will be one of my most treasured pieces and I hope I inspired you to think “outside the box” Peace, love , & many hugs!!

Home Sweet Home – Part II

Hi!  Suzz here.  I am back to share the other side of my album today.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI started with the fun Rowdy Roadster album and used papers, paints, stamps and embellishments to decorate it celebrating family and home.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI covered the tag with pattern paper and layered in a doily with a photo of a family.  I added a few embellishments of flowers, brads and tissue tape.

The album opened up which showcases the next page which is acetate.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI painted the acetate with acrylic paints.  I painted, smeared and wiped off coats of paint and then splattered more paint over the top.

I stamped a flourish using paint on this side and you can see the sentiment peeking through from the other side.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe next page is covered in pattern paper and has a hand painted heart.  The keyhole and key were stamped over the painted heart with a chain added to the key for an embellishment.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhen you flip the page you now get to the fun envelope to store mementos.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe envelope was accented with tissue tape and another tag cut from pattern paper.  The butterfly was stamped and colored on the tag.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA few touches of lace trim were added and the word Home was stamped onto the tag.

The next page is the half circle which is covered in pattern paper.  The image and sentiment were stamped and a flourish added with a hint of embossing paste.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhen you flip the page you are back to the beginning with the acetate house that started the whole Home Sweet Home theme.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe heart and house were aligned to the front cover.  The mini house is from the Happy Little Houses embellishments.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWell I hope you enjoyed seeing the reverse side of the album!

Home Sweet Home

Hi!  Suzz here to share my first DT project for Basically Bare!  I am thrilled to be creating with all the awesome products available at the store: Basically Bare.

My first project was to use the awesome Rowdy Roadster Album to create a mini album.

I love that it has so many different mediums and shapes in the album to play with.  When I first looked at it I thought what if I turn it and make it into a house.  That idea inspired my whole album.

The first page I added a roof made of pattern paper an a door within a door using the Happy Little Houses.

Next up is a lovely circle shape which I was able to cover in paper and add a large sketched heart.

I stamped a rustic scene and added a few stickers as my sentiment.

Next up is a fun envelope that can hold all kind of goodies.

I painted the envelope with a hint of pink and added a stamped image along with a touch of embossing.

the next page is a lovely piece of corrugated cardboard and I layered it with some pretty papers and a stamped image and sentiment.

I finished the front of the album with more lovely papers and embellishments.

Next week I will show you the reverse side of my album and how it looks all put together.

“Gorjuss Girl Keepsake Journal”

Hi Bascially Bare friends! I would like to share with you all my very first Design Team Project !! The moment that I seen this “Tiny Tabs” album, I immediately knew what I wanted to make! I did take pictures , or at least I tried to take pictures along the way was I worked on this. I sometimes got a little distracted because of all the fun was having making this. I truly hope that you all enjoy this adorable keepsake journal that is perfect for any little girls thoughts and dreams.

  • Took apart the Basically Bare Tiny Tabs album DSC01215
  • Paper lined some of the pages with “Tilda-Painting Flowers” Paper stack
  • Removed the thin layer of plastic on the acrylic tabs, adhered paper with Ranger Glossy Accents”
  • Stamped out some images from “Santoro – Gorjuss & adhered them to the chipboard pages of the Tiny Tabs album, I stamped the images with Ranger “Archival Ink”  on white cardstock, they can be colored with alcohol inks, watercolors , oil pastels etc, DSC01216
  • For the journaling lines on the opposite side of pages I traced out some paper from a magnet list pad I had in my stash, adhered a border from the “Santoro – Gorjuss Girl paper collection.DSC01218
  • For the cover I fussy cut an image from the same Gorjuss Girl paper, used some Tim Holtz “Stormy Sky” distresss ink around it. I also stamped out the “label” stamp from one of the “Santoro – Gorjuss Girl Stamp collections, the sentiment inside the label is from Tim Holtz -Stampers Anonymous collection, that was stamped with the “Stormy Sky” Distress Ink as well. I then decided to use one of the embellisments from  Basically Bare Celestial Shapes/ Stiffened Felt Cloud , I dabbed a bit of “Stormy Sky” Distress ink, I then added Mod Podge and immediately sprinkled some “Twinkle Dust” from Clearsnap – Donna Salazar Collection. Finished it by spraying some “Aleene’s Spray-On Adhesive” DSC01235.jpg2
  • Adhered my Fussy cut image, the cloud, and stamped label to the front cover. I applied a little bit of “Ranger-Glossy Accents” to the image of the Gorguss Girl, adhered a small ribbon, added some flat back pearls to the sides of the label and the center of the ribbon, colored it with one of my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers (TB9). I also added some colored rinestones to the acrylic tabs that separate the pages!
  • Last I punched out the holes for the spiral tabbed album with my “Crop-A-Dile Big Chopper” , I don’t have a Bind It all so I made this work and put back the spiral wire.
  • You can find these and other great products @

My Journal pg 2

I am so happy to begin my journey here as a Basically Bare Design team member. It’s true,  I am a  hokie crafting geek with a whole lotta bohemian artist thrown in. “)

So lets throw on some Jim Croce or maybe some  Carol King to get  in our artsy groove and begin.  Inspiring one another along the way displaying and sharing our Basically Bare creations.

My very first share will be an on -going  thing. Every month I will display another page that shows the tips and techniques used.

Supplies so far:  8 1/2 – 11 Artful Binder, Celestial Shapes, Fanciful Frames , Happy Little Trees, Standard Rounded Tags.

Misc. Papers, Letters, Ribbon, distress ink and embellishments of your choosing. If it feels good…”Use It”!

My Journal AlbumWhen I began this album I wasn’t sure where it would go, sometimes that is how it just have to start.  Most of us have many supplies in our arsenal that we are not sure if we will use again ie. letters by the millions and these metal framed tags…I have married them and placed them on my center strip, My Son that is included in the Celestial Shapes was covered with a pretty fabric, I ran my sun through my sticker maker and stuck it directly to the fabric, trimming after and using distress ink to highlight. I used a straight distress ink to color the frame tag on the bottom right corner and I took my brand label and created a eyelet tag out of it! To pay me a little visit drop by HERE. I would love to hear your thoughts.
