Jules here. For the longest time I have kept a note book that I fill with creation inspiration: layout sketches, inking ideas, paint mixing and color combos. You name it and I put it into my little 3×5 notebook. While the note book was handy and could fit into my purse, it became cumbersome. My inkings ran into my paints and I could never find the card or layout sketch when I needed it. What has proven to work much better is a Basically Bare’s Artful Binder. These come in a variety of sizes and I went with the 9×11.
To decorate the front of my Create notebook, I cut an assortment of flowers from a paper by American Craft. I used Art Anthology’s Sorbet Dimensional Paint in Vegas Gold and Art Anthology’s Velvet Dimensional Paint in Basil to paint the flowers. These paints not only add dimension but they add POW to any project. While the flowers dried, I covered the exterior of the notebook with more of the American Craft paper and sealed it with Helmar’s Textured Effects. This sealer can give paper a fabric finish and I love it. I sealed the flowers with Beacon’s Fast Finish Decoupage for durability.
I layered the flowers on the cover and wound ribbon from May Arts Ribbons around the spine.
Because of the wonderful dividers that accompany the notebook, I’ll never have sketches and inks co-mingling again. Not only that, but additional inserts can be purchased as well.
I included pockets and sliders and left plenty of room for the additional inserts and notepaper. I think I am going to find this Create notebook far more user friendly than the one I used before.
