Christmas Days

Hi Suzz here.  I am back to share more of the Flip Advent Calendar made from the awesome Basically Bare Easy Easel.

Basically Bare – Easy Easel, Hero Arts – Snowflake, Madonna and Child, Idea-Ology Tissue Tape, Momento, Stampendous – Numbers, Tsukineko – Gold Glitz

I finished my album off with a few religious images.  I painted a touch of gesso on the paper and stamped the image using a black archival ink.

Basically Bare – Mixed Media Card, Scalloped Tags, Kaisercraft – paper, Stampendous Numbers

I had some beautiful paper that looked like a stained glass window and what better way to frame it than to take the Acetate Scalloped tag and lay it over the top. I applied a touch of alcohol inks and blending solution to the acetate tag to create a warm aged feel.  I edged the tag with gold krylon pen to gild it.  I then attached the paper to the back side of the tag. I added a gold star to the top to cover the hole of the tag.

Basically Bare – Scalloped Tag, October Afternoon, Memory Box – Merry Christmas, Hero Arts -Numbers

This is the Basically Bare Scalloped tag decorated with a mix of papers and a few tiny stamped touches.

Basically Bare – Mixed Media Card, October Afternoon, Penny Black, Mementa Stamps, Hero Arts – Number, Ranger Distress Ink – Fossilized Amber, Ranger Archival Ink

A snowy scene stamped over The Night Before Christmas paper.

Basically Bare – Mixed Media Card, Acetate, Indigo Blue Deer, Memory Box Snowflakes, October Afternoon

With the acetate it is tricky to place things in a way it looks visually pleasing on both sides of the calendar. I covered the word Joy with the snowflake. The buck actually was stamped on the reverse side and becomes  a reverse image on the back.

Basically Bare – Easy Easel, October Afternoon

A cute layering of deer and a doily with a few accents of holly and ribbon.

Basically Bare – Easy Easel, October Afternoon, Hero Arts

A simple layering of cute papers with vintage images.

Basically Bare – Mixed Media Card, Mementa, Inkadinkado, Hero Arts, Gesso, Color Pencils, Stampendous Glitter

I used the mixed media card set and  scalloped tag set to add additional pages along with the Easy Easel.  All the items area available to purchase on-line at the Basically Bare retail shop.

I hope you enjoyed wandering through a few more pages of the Christmas Count Down!

Words and Pictures Tags

Good morning everyone!  I’ve got a couple of tags I made with the Basically Bare Scalloped Tag Set.

2015-11-08 14.10.23

For this one, I gesso’d a cardboard tag and then coated it with Art Anthology Chocolate Sorbet.  I then added my picture and ran twine all around the edges.  Next, I cut out “You Can Do This”, sprayed it with Salted Caramel and used my Xyron to adhere it to the tag.  I then added faux stitching around the image with a black Sharpie, glued on a cowboy hat charge and a few doo-dads I had laying around and it’s done!

2015-11-08 14.11.40

For this tag (which we carry but isn’t currently in the shop), I used one made from watercolor paper.  I misted water over the tag, sprayed with Barbie and Grass and dried.  Next I added the image and the words.  I cut a piece of Diamond Wrap (available in floral supply stores) and used it to edge the tag.  Finally I added faux stitching around the edges with my black Sharpie and tied on some fiber.

Two quick and easy tags that I absolutely love (the top one is in my office at work).

Stampers Anonymous, October Afternoon, Momento

The easy easel  album came with a certain number of pages.  I had to add extra pages to have enough for the 25 days of Christmas.  I used the mixed media card set and  scalloped tag set to add additional pages.  All the items area available to purchase on-line at the Basically Bare retail shop.

Christmas tag series

Hi everyone!! I’m back with a project that is smaller than I’m use to making. But I wanted to make these tags into a series of these wonderful mixed scalloped tags that Basically Bare carries! Their tags are a mixture of canvas, acrylic, chipboard, corrugated cardboard, stiffened felt,  & water color paper. Here are the two I decided to start with

  • These were actually very quick and easy to make. The felt tag I left it as is and added some xmas brads , an adorable candy cane and sentiment, and some colored Rinestones. On the other tag I decided to use to corrugated cardboard. I removed the cardboard from one side so that it exposed the inside. I then just applied some Deco Arts Snow Tex , then I added some stickles to make it look like shimmery snow. One the other side I just traced some pattern paper from the DCWV Christmas stack , which I just love snow flakes!! Then after the snow Tex dried I just added some adorable xmas embellishments, the xmas tree is a thick acrylic piece that I added Rinestones to look like lights, the Santa is made of chipboard and the snowflake is made of felt, I just added stickles to give it that shimmer look. Then I just added some red glitter ribbon on top. On the bottom is some fabric ribbon that says Merry Christmas. I am anxious to share the rest with you. These will be used when I put up my Christmas decorations, I will place them on my shelf.

These next photos are of the assortment of tags and of the snow Tex I applied on the corrugated tag.

I hope you enjoy what I made and I hope this gives you an idea of how you can use your tags instead of just applying paper or stamping on them.  You can find these and many more products at the Online store

Till next time! ~Besos~ Jeanne

Starry Starry Night

Hi!  Suzz here.

I have been wanting to create a journal to use for colors and capturing ideas, techniques or color combinations to use at a later time.

The Artful Journal – 6″ x 9″ is the perfect size to carry along with me when I am out and about and fits nicely anywhere when I want to jot down an idea, sketch something or just create a page.

Which started looking like this:

6″x9″ Artful Journal

I decided to use one of the pages and apply it to the cover.   I took one of the pages from inside the journal and inked it up with a mix of colors.  They all look very monochromatic when done but I actually started with this mix of colors:

I was inking up some color combinations on my journal page and this one was a lovely blend of colors and I decided to smear them onto my craft mat add a bit of water.

I laid the journal page in the inky mix and pulled it up.  I then heat dried it with my heat gun.  I repeated this about 10 times.  This gives the lovely water marks and spots with different shades of color.

Once I had my pretty golden background with all the lovely splotches I decided I needed a sentiment and there is this lovely one from Impression Obsession, that I have had for awhile that hadn’t seen ink yet.  I stamped it in the center of the page using black water resistant ink.

Next I wanted some stars for my golden background and I knew I had some beautiful ones from the Celestial Shapes Die Cuts.

Celestial Shapes

I used the Acetate stars to accent my cover.

I used alcohol inks and blending solution.  3 drops of rust and caramel alcohol ink and 3 drops of alcohol blending solution.  Dabbed onto the surface to add the color.  Usually I wait a minute and let the first coat dry on the star and then repeat with the same inky applicator without re-applying any ink.  This gives a nice splotchy effect on the acetate.

I also used gold embossing paste and the Memory Box star stencil to add a smattering of golden stars and circles across the background.

After that dried I stamped script (Darkroom Door Eclectic Stamp) using Tsukineko Delicata Gold Glitz ink to stamp that script on the stars and the background randomly.  This ink needs extra drying time or to be heat set. be careful with your acetate as it will curl up if it is heated too much.  I let those dry naturally.

I then colored white twine with the gold ink and added a hint of the gold on the binder rings.  I heat set the gold on the binder rings as that surface would not hold the ink without being dried. When I was finished with my page I adhered it to the cover.

I wanted to mention I loved how the paper in the journal took the colors from the die inks.  Here is a another page of the journal which I used to put together a fun bright color palette:

Carved Pumpkin, Twisted Citron, Wilted Violet, Tuxedo Black

Remember you can purchase the journal and the celestial shapes in the Basically Bare on-line store.

I love how the paper enriches the colors.  I am looking forward to putting more ideas and colors into my new art journal!

Steampunk Mini

HI Crafty Friends!! So for my 1st project for the month of November, I thought I would do something that I most definitely have taken a liking to. This would be making mini albums! I have enjoyed playing around with all of the different Albums that Basically Bare carries! This time I decided to create this not so mini using the Delightful Doors Album in combination with one of my favorite paper collections  from Graphic45 ” Steampunk Debutante” , I also combined some papers from Marion Smith ”  Timekeeper” & “Nirvana”. They all went very well together I thought so anyway!

  • This album was very simple to take apart, I then traced the pages on the design papers that I picked out. On the front flaps I added black card stock for the background then adhered my chosen papers, I also used ivory card stock for the inner flaps and then just used design paper to make some pockets and added some tags that came with the Graphic45 paper. As for the canvas sheet that comes in the album, I sprayed one side using Lindy’s spray and on the other side I used Tattered Angels sheer spray, then I applied my paper, added hears on one end. I also embellished the rest of the album with flat flowers, pockets with tags. I didn’t want to make it too bulky. I hope you like how this turned out. I will be making a video offering more input on what I made. I made 3 picture collages so I could share all the pages without taking up too much room. I hope you will take a look at this and many more different albums you can play with, just head over to Basically Bare Online Shop

Quick and Easy Halloween Album

Hello again! Jessica here, back from the crazy that is this semester. Well, not really back so much as able to come up for air for a minute :)

I have the cutest little album to share with you today. I really haven’t had a ton of time for things that aren’t homework lately, but it felt amazing to get into my scrapbook room to work on this. I have a lot of Halloween supplies, but they tend to sit and gather dust because the holidays hit fast after trick-or-treating. I happened to have some time on Friday and this thing came together in no time. It all started with the Tiny Tabs album. Check it out!

I love the bright colors on this thing and it looks adorable standing up on a table. The pen lines around the edges of the covers and pages are a fun detail (that doesn’t cost a thing). Check out the pages and I’ll tell how I put it all together (and finished it with photos on Sunday).

DSC_0793 DSC_0794 DSC_0795 DSC_0796 DSC_0797 DSC_0798 DSC_0799 DSC_0800 DSC_0801 DSC_0802 DSC_0803

So, do you think I have ever had an album completely done the day after a holiday? Heck no! I was able to do that this time because I used my Instax Mini to take the photos and just stuck them all in the next day. I even have room on each photo for a little journaling. This is the second Tiny Tabs album I’ve worked with and they are so ridiculously fun. Maybe I’ll challenge myself to use up some of my tons of scraps on the next one.

Well, I hope you are inspired to take some time to get some of those Halloween photos into an album! Be sure to stop by the Facebook page and Basically Bare store to stay up to date with everything that’s going on. Have a great week!

Elegant yet Vintage Tag & Easel Set

Hi my crafty friends! Today I want to share with you this tag and easel combo set I created! I of course used one of my favorite paper collections, some beautiful laces, a little bit of Bling, & of course some wonderful products from Basically Bare!!  I will get started showing most of my process! Enjoy!!

  • I first began by altering one of the adorable Prima Julie Nutting Tags, its size is 3.5 x 8.5 but I trimmed it just a tad. I then chose my papers which are two different paper collections but are yet similar. They are both from the Paper Studio, “Haberdashery ” & “Kellerkurtz&Company “, like I said they have similar papers the only difference is the Haberdashery is a Kraft paper and the Kellerkurtz&Company is a very thin design paper. I chose which one I wanted to adhere on my tag, I used my Scotch ATG to adhere both front and back of the tag. I then used some Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Ink ” Black Soot” to distress all of the edges of my tag. I then chose the smallest the dress forms  from Basically Bare which they do come in all sizes and different materials. Dress Forms  image
  • With this I applied some mod podge and adhered some vintage book papers that I had. I applied the same distress inks around the dress form then I had a small corset clipboard die cut that a friend of mine had gifted me so I embossed it using the Lindy’s embossing powder in ” Midnight Pewter”. As I let that cool off I chose some beautiful laces from my stash. A black embroidered ruffle trim. & a Pearl light caramel colored Venice lace that has a beautiful design on it. I used Beacon Fabri-tac to adhere the laces. I applied the embossed corset then added a little bit of BLING to the center belt line of the corset then a small strand of pearls with lace as a necklace. I stamped on some images/ sentiments using a Spanish themed stamp set that I have called “Dilo En Espanol- Hecho Con Amor” ( Say It In Spanish- Made with Love) By: www. Retro I then applied some Ranger Stickles in Gold around the stamped images. Last I tied some Black/ Gold seam binding on top of my tag. *Note: I also made a box from the Haberdashery Kraft paper using my scoreboard. I will be doing a tutorial on it. Will post here when I do. **image
  • image
  • After making this I decided to make a little something extra so I decided on the  Basically Bare Pre Assembled Album (Easel) image
  • I began by taking it apart from the cinch binder it comes with. I prefer doing this to adhere my papers to give it a neater, clean look I guess you can say. I don’t own a Cinch Binder or Zutter so I just holes of the paper with my Crop-A-Dile. it works great! Ok back to my project! I then traced all of the chipboard sheets that’s come in different sizes on to different design papers from The Paper Studio “Kellerkurtz&Company ” as I had mentioned before I decided to use the same papers on this as well. I used the Prima Distresser  and the Ranger Distresser on all the edges and then once adhered to the chipboard I used The Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Inks in ” Vintage Photo” & ” Black Soot” in the edges. image
  • After all the papers where adhered using my ATG, I began making some pockets with some wide laces so that I could use some small tags that I had cut out from the same paper line. I distressed the edges on them too using ” “Vintage Photo” . Once the laces dried from using Fabri-tac, I began to embellish using a variety of small cabachons, a few more of those embossed chipboard die cuts my friend Amy Love had gifted me for my bday this past May. I also used a beautiful pink sequined appliqué on the last page. Along with other small embellishments. I did leave some of the pages blank with no pocket to be used as a photo mat. I just added a small embellishment on those. I did however use a couple of different die cuts from Basically Bare!! I used Wings & Hearts
  • image image
  • I Used the small chipboard heart, I embossed it using Lindy’s Embossing Powder ” Hibiscus Rose Orange”  & the smallest of the chipboard wings in ” Midnight Pewter ” They look GREAT!!
  • I apologize that this post was so long but I would love it if you got some inspiration and / or ideas out of it!!
