Mixed Media Junk Journal

Hi crafty friends! I wanted to make something that wasn’t Xmas themed even though it is coming up. I like to be different ! Anyhow, I have been wanting to do a Junk Journal using the Timeless Tab Album from Basically Bare Online Shop

I first took it apart and papered some of the pages from the album, I also used the inserts from the Prima Mixed Media 7×9 Album. Which includes paper tags, plain canvas sheets, watercolor papers, resist canvas sheets, plastic sleeves, double sided card stock, photo insert sheets. I also added some double sided designer folders from a Heidi Swap pkg I had in my stash. I left it blank because this will be going to a friend for Xmas. I will post a video link once I upload it , it will contain the rest of the pages that aren’t pictured here. I didn’t want this blog to be too long. The papers that I used were some of my favorite from The Paper Studio, Haberdashery & Kellerkurtz&Company .

In the above photo collage are some of the pages from my album. I also used one of the adorable frames from Basically Bare called Fanciful Frames  , I used one of the chipboard ones that I embossed in Black embossing powder. I loved how it looked on the front cover page. I added a tiny doily with a ivory flat back pearl to accent the frame. I hot glued it on, after I had already glued some wide vintage lace and a beautiful vintage appliqué . I will be posting a link to my video that shows a more extensive look at this journal . I hope you like it and will order your self this or other selections of albums from the Basically Bare Online Store

Beach Bums in a Box

Every years since my twin grandsons were born four years ago and adding their baby sis when she came along, I’ve made a shadow box for my daughter and her husband.  The Corrugated Cardboard Sheets (12×12) and the Artful Binders Mixed Media Expansion Packs (Canvas 8 1//2 x 11) gave me the perfect items I needed to create this years shadow box.

First, I randomly tore strips off the corrugated cardboard, exposing the ribs.  I lightly stirred Art Anthology’s  Sorbet Dimensional Paint into the amazing Gesso.

I dabbed this mixture onto the lower section of the corrugated sheet using more of the blue to imitate the Gulf water.

I used more and more of the white as I neared the top of the sheet.  I love how the Gesso added texture to the paint.  I placed a plastic screen over various sections of the corrugated sheet and dabbed more of the mixture over that using it like a stencil.  When the paint had started to set up, I took the screen off and allowed all the paint to dry.

I took a length of the May Arts burlap ribbon and cut off the binding top and bottom.  I frayed the edges pulling strands here and there, top and bottom to give the ribbon as less regular appearance.

I printed the photo of my three little Beach “bums” onto a piece of trimmed canvas from the Mixed Media pack .  I love to print on canvas as it turns a simple photo into something extra special.  I trimmed this and arranged the ribbon, shells , twine and the picture inside the shadow box.

I think this will make a fun addition to the shadow box collection.

Good Bye, Asta Lluego, Until we Meet Again

Hi Veronica here for my last post with Basically Bare. It feels like I am leaving home – I have been with this team for almost 3 years.  But Spring is here-  we have a new and awesome design team and it’s time for me to venture into other experiences.

So for my last post I was inspired by the butterfly which to me signifies new beginnings.

I decided to get a little artsy on this card and stenciled it with gesso then stamped it with my favorite stamp that looks like popcorn packing.  I then layered all my embellishments.  I also added some sorbet from Art Anthology on the flowers and edge of my card.

I also made this cute bee card because why not?  If you are making one – might as well make two.  For this card I focused on the bee which I stamped then used glossy accents on it.  I also used Art Anthology “cinnamon toast” spray on the Basically Bare felt fanciful frame.

Here is a closer angle – I used the cardboard gear from the Basically Bare gear pack.  I covered it with paper and sprayed “cinnamon toast” on it also.

I stamped “Thank You” on a tag and tucked behind my gear.  Which leads me to say good bye for the best 3 years and thank you for supporting Basically Bare and stopping by to see what I have created for you.

Happy Scrapping … Veronica (kitsnbitscraps)

Polly’s Pocket 5 Reasons Why

Hello, Veronica here to share with you my newest Basically Bare Valentine Album using Polly’s Pocket.

The album is titled “5 Reasons Why I Love You”  I have always liked that title because it sets the theme for what is inside the album.  You can put in photos of any family member or best friend.

I also used the Basically Bare Hearts Package in all the sizes and textures.  Such a great embellishment

I painted the chipboard hearts red then I embossed them with clear embossing power.  They are great for the Polly’s Pocket tags to help pull them out.  I also painted and embossed the Fanciful Frames to the cover of the album.

You can also slip in extra journaling or photos in the pockets along with the large Tags.

There are 18 spots for photos or journaling and 4 pages with pockets and tags.  Plenty of room for all your Valentine memories.

I put in 5 numbered tags throughout the album to prompt you to list your 5 reasons why you love that special person in your life.  Of course you could journal more on the tags if you wish.

These albums are spiral ring bound and I love to add ribbon and charms to the bindings.

I added the cute Lovely Locket and key embellishment set to this book.  I thought it added that extra detail.

Hope you enjoyed my Valentine Polly’s Pocket album and thank you for stopping by.

Happy Scrapping, Veronica (Kitsnbitscraps)
